Message from Dean of Tourism and Tour Guiding.

The course at Lake Naivasha Institute was designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to become exceptional tour guides. Its curriculum encompassed a comprehensive range of subjects, covering everything from destination management and customer service to wildlife conservation and cultural heritage preservation.

We have designed this  course to equip out trainees with knowledge, skills and attitudes required to conduct tour guiding and travel operations in the dynamic tourism industry. It is designed to enable our trainees to plan itineraries, execute and administer a tour effectively. It also enables our trainees to execute travel operations.

As the students delve into their studies, the faculty members, who are seasoned professionals in the field, guid them with passion and expertise. Their focus extends beyond theoretical concepts; they sought to instill a deep understanding of the intricacies of tourism, emphasizing sustainable practices that will protect the environment and respect local communities.

Throughout the program, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in real-world scenarios and gain hands-on experience. They venture into the captivating landscapes , exploring  abundant wildlife, diverse ecosystems, and vibrant communities. Field trips and excursions provide invaluable opportunities to learn about the region’s history, folklore, and cultural traditions, fostering a sense of appreciation for the rich tapestry of Kenya’s heritage.

The institute’s commitment to experiential learning extends beyond the classroom. Students engage in internships and apprenticeships, working closely with established tour operators, conservation organizations, and community initiatives. This practical exposure allows them to fine-tune their skills and gain insights into the day-to-day challenges and responsibilities faced by tour guides.

The Lake Naivasha Institute Tourism and Tour Guiding Course stands as an oasis of learning, nurturing future tour guides who will weave the stories of Kenya’s unique landscapes, biodiversity, and cultural heritage. It’s celebrated  spirit of exploration and wanderlust, inviting students to step boldly into a career filled with endless possibilities and the privilege of sharing the wonders of their beautiful homeland with visitors from around the globe.

At the end our program, the students are prepared and excited to be the leaders and contributors to industry and society.
